First the good. These are really nice tall chairs/stools that look good and appear to be quite sturdy. They look great up against our natural wood kitchen counter. Five stars would have been my rating if not for the assembly process. The seat comes unassembled. Why this the case I don't know. All the rest of the chair is assembled. You have to put in small wood screws and two longer wood screws. But the seats do not pre-drilled holes to assist in aligning the screws. Three isn't even a template to help you in lining the screws up on the chair seat. Really? Can't furniture manufacturers do better than this?We were disappointed to find handwriting on the legs of two of the five chairs that we bought. It looks like someone had written measurements on the wood. Some of the writing appears to be Chinese. It is on the bottom of the seat or on the insides of the legs, so the writing can't be seen once the chairs have been assembled, but this is rather unprofessional.Still, once you get over the need to carefully mark the screw holes yourself and ignore any scribbling, these really are very fine chairs and quite a bargain at the price. The design is nice.We were very disappointed with these stools. The color description is mahogany, however the color was actually more like cherry and had a very orange-ish hue to it. The packaging was sparse and the piece we bothered to unwrap and assemble had several gouges and nicks. The instructions were hard to read due to blurry print and very sparse. Otherwise, it was nice that the only assembly required was to screw the seat bottoms to the frame which was already assembled. The seat bottoms in one box were just thrown in. The second box had the seat bottoms wrapped in bubble wrap.I ordered three chairs: One has no issues. One has messy glue or some other dried white substance staining the wood in multiple spots on the chair - all very visible. No, they don't wash off. One black vinyl seat has a puncture at each of the two front corners. The chairs came very well wrapped in padding and cardboard, two in one box and one in another box, so the damage could not have occurred in transit. They were a bear to unwrap so I can't imagine having to pack them back up to return them, that would be a ridiculous amount of effort for something that should have arrived in flawless condition.Other than that, I like the chairs, they are very solidly made and have clean, simple lines. For one out of three, I give my purchase a satisfaction rating of 33%.Not sure it's made in America. Chair itself looks nice. However, two major flaws for me. First assembly may be obvious but no instructions included which there should be with the chairs. Secondly they used(and the ones that comes with chairs for assembly) countersink flat wood screws when truss head types will give a better grip. Chair is complete and you only need to put the seat on. Part of this score is a result of packing which was reported. We bought this to match our existing chairs we've had for 9 years. Perfect match! Very sturdy, well made. I absolutely recommend this chair.I bought 3 stools and received them in 3 days. There was a minor scratch on the back of one stool and a small piece missing right below the seat on the side of another stool. A furniture marker pen took care of it. One of the four screw on two of the stools did not lock down the seat to the stool. I didn't notify the company about the minor damage or screw problem. Other than that I am very happy with the product.I really like these barstools (I bought 2). They are sturdy, the wood is of good quality, and the finish isn't cheap. The reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is the hardware should have been black. It's silver colored and stands out too much on the finished product. Black hardware would come close to disappearing. Other than that, very glad I bought these stools. They're exactly what I was looking for.The stools looked nice when they arrived. After a closer look, we noticed that one of the stools arrived damaged (was scuffed) and one was not leveled.
